Random GE Junction Biopsy

CLINICAL HISTORY
History of esophageal CA; see prior pathology. Upper GI endoscopy biopsy - random GE junction - rule out Barrett's, dysplasia, neoplasm.


FINAL MICROSCOPIC DIAGNOSIS:
Gastroesophageal junction, random endoscopic biopsy - Squamous mucosa, including transformation zone, without significant histologic alteration -
Gastric columner epithelium with reactive changes without atypia
Negative for complete interstinal metaphasia, PAS Alcan blue stain evaluated.


GROSS DESCRIPTION:
One part is received in formalin in a container labeled with the patient's name, date of birth and "random GE junction". It consists of four tan irregular fragments of tissue measuring 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.1 cm in aggregate. The specimen is wrapped and submitted in toto in one casette labeled A1.
