TISSUES: A. GE Junction Nodule; B. GE Junction opposite wall to EMR
CLINICAL HISTORY: Upper EUS/EMR

FINAL MICROSCOPIC DIAGNOSIS:

A. Gastroesophageal junction, nodule;
-Squamous mucosa, including transformation zone, without significant histologic alteration
-Gastric columnar epithelium with mild reactive changes without atypia
-Negative for complete intestinal metaplasia by H and E and PAS Alcain
-Negative for dysplasia, negative for recurrent carcinoma


B. Gastroesophageal junction, opposite wall to EMR: Gastric columnar epithelium with mild reactive changes without atypia (negative for complete intestinal metaplasia on H and E and PAS Alcian blue)>


GROSS DESCRIPTION:

A. The specimen is received in a container with formalin and labeled with patient's name, date of birth, and "GE junction nodule." It consists of multiple purple white and brown, irregular fragments of tissue measuring 0.7 x 0.4 x 0.3 cm in aggregate. The specimen is entirely submitted in one cassette labeled A1.


B. The specimen is received in a container with formalin and labeled with patient's name, date of birth, and "GE junction opposite wall to EMR." It consists of multiple tan-brown, irregular fragments of tissue measuring 0.6 x 0.3 x 0.1 cm in aggregate. The specimen is entirely submitted in one cassette labeled B1.
