Barrett's Tongue GEJ45
CLINICAL HISTORY:
Status post EMR esophagus cancer; see attached pathology. Upper EUS/biopsy-rule out Barrett's, dysplasia, neoplasm.
FINAL MICROSCOPIC DIAGNOSIS:
Gastroesophageal junction, 45 cm, biopsy:
-benign gastric type mucosa with no evidence of intestinal metaplasia on Alcian blue/PAS stain.
-no evidence of dysplasia
GROSS DESCRIPTION:
One part is received in formalin in a container labeled with the patient's name, date of birth and "Barrett's time GEJ. 45". It consits of two tan, irregular fragments of tissue measuring 0.2 x 0.2 x 0.1 cm and 0.3 x 0.2 x 0.1 cm. The specimen is wrapped and submitted in toto in one cassette labeled A1.
