Unusual Symptoms

Psoriasis

In February of 1998 a dermatologist diagnosed me with psoriasis.  My mother has psoriasis also.

The affected area is my chest.  It is extant for 15-20 years.  Gradually the area affected grew from a small area over my breast bone to an area approximately the area exposed by the area exposed by a 'V' neck T-shirt.

The area was never more than mildly irritated until earlier this year (1998).  There was a window of intense itching for a period of weeks. It began with a change in the level of Serzone, one of the medications I was taking.

I began treatment for the psoriasis with twice daily applications of Fluocinonide gel.  At about the same time I again changed the level of Serzone. The itching went away immediately with the application of the Fluocinonide gel.  Did the change in the Serzone level the second time cause the irritation to abate?  I am currently not using the Fluocinonide gel.

My dermatologist advised me to bathe the affected area with Neutrogena Therapeutic T/Gel shampoo instead of regular soap.  I do this.

At present the Psoriasis is not irritating, scaling, or otherwise troubling to me.
